Last week, North Korea shelled an island belonging to South Korea. 4 people were killed including two South Korean marines. The South Korean President was urged by the United States to not retaliate with the military. Now, the US Navy and South Korea are performing military exercises off the coast which the Communist North Korea is calling "provocative". Should the United States be over there protecting democracy? Does anyone think this is going to be another war the United States is going to get trapped in?
Because North Korea has made it clear that they are our enemy, I think it is necessary that the US helps South Korea. They are a strong ally and we would want their support. Yes, it does seem a little bit like Vietnam and Iraq where maybe we should stay away and deal with our own problems. But, North Korea has threatened the United States countless times. I think it is important for us to be over there to try and prevent all out war. If war did start, it would eventually get to us anyway.
